 Smester 2 Blog Ten

So today I basically just worked on a bunch of stuff that needed finishing and designing. I have almost got one background for my level done aswell as some boss art. For the previous skeletons they have been small but I wanted to make this guy the big bad, so I made an evil skeleton hulk pretty much. I am pleased with the outcome and now all I have to do is finish it off in Harmony and then animate him.

 Semester 2 Blog Thirteen

Over the past few days I have re-drawn my current animation so it follows the storyboard better. I realized my mistake and I am quite pleased with the current design outcome. What I did was change the style a bit to make it seem less childish and the overall look is visually pleasing to the eye.

What Is It?

How did I do it?

Why Did I do it?

These are the questions I need to ask myself for my artist statement. So today in class I am focusing on my artist statement for the exhibition in 4 weeks, Yikes. Lucky I'm only in a slight panic but I better get my ass into gear asap. so I guess here is a draft of my artist statement.

(e.g. there are meant to be my posters around this)

Hello, My name is Seth Nops and I designed the poster pieces you can see here.
These posters are meant to represent possible ideas for a future book cover in the current series I am writing called Heir to the King. I have always enjoyed fantasy stories and adventures and I have wanted to write a book myself so this year I finally began my goal. The first thing I had done for this is began planning and writing and then came up with the cover designs for people to see. You might see me floating around with a tally chart and pamphlets so your welcome to come up and help me decide on the look, aswell as a friendly chat and a free draft of the first two chapters.

I probally need to work on this a bit more but it is fine for my first draft.

So today I ended up arriving to class a bit late, but I still ended up doing a decent amount of work. What I had done today was learnt how to export my animations from toonboom harmony to photoshop to make some spritesheets to export then to unity. I have done a basic walk, a sword drawn walk and an attack animation aswell as a death. I am very pleased with the current outcome of Gallus, since I have had quite a challenge getting the design I like. This is quite simple and looks appealing to the eye, plus looks fun. The next task I need to do is a Magic attack, enemy animations and finish the Boss design.

So pretty much what I did today was I did a basic walk animation for the Skeleton Enemies and a death cloud?, so when the enemy dies a cloud will poof and a grave will be put there. Overall I thought I did pretty well today, even though I needed a bit of help for my walk from my tutor.

So Today we had our programming class and I thought it went quite well in my opinion. What I followed is a simple 2D player side scroller tutorial which took most of the 4 hours to do, but I enjoyed it none the less. Here is some screenshots from it...

What I need to prepare for next week is having all my animations for my character and enemies.

Progress Review.

So today in class we started off with our tutor to reassess and re-evaluate our work so far. Personally I believe I am slightly behind from where I would like to be, but I am still on track for the due date. So far I have successfully completed all of my written work, besides a little touch up on the Author (AKA Me) at the end of the pamphlet. I am currently still drawing my three posters and a simple backdrop for the background of the pamphlet.

So What have I specifically been doing recently?

Well I have been trying to improve my drawing skill and look of my book cover/posters. I have looked at several other YouTube video's for inspiration for my drawing, and I have been looking at different book covers suck as Game of Thrones, Percy Jackson and The Witcher book series.

One of the Ideas is a snowy scene that takes place in the prologue with a silver metallic border. Some of the youtube links to the videos I have seen are below.

Where did I get my inspiration for this.

I have always love Arthurian legends ever since I was a young kid, and that eventually mixed with one of my genre of Manga, high fantasy. When I was thinking of my creative writing in year 11 I thought about what I would enjoy writing, and the idea that Arthur had an heir 100 years later who would save the world. I had this idea since I was 15 so I wanted to re-create this now and finish a full book in the near future.

What do I want to accomplish

I want to try and set a step for me to try and get my book out into the world similar to how movies and trailers and books have online advertisements. I want to see if I can make people wonder and become intrigued with the new world that I have created. Using Trans-media I want to see how far I can go with my own will and capabilities before asking for help.
